Talk:Michael Praetorius
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The hostess on Radio BBC3's Early Music show recently said that Praetorius's Terpsichore collection was not actually written by him, but rather that he served as an "archivist" who collected various dances from around the continent. Might be important if this article is ever expanded. --KJJ 16:28, Mar 22, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] undue brevity
For such a major composer, this article is really short ! The one on Heinrich Isaak is much more thorough, although it is much easier to find recordings of Praetorius than of Isaak. 59.117.160.176 13:07, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- I agree: this one is quite under-developed. I haven't gotten around to writing it yet (nor has anyone else) -- I'll add this to my to-do list. Thanks, Antandrus (talk) 13:39, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- That's the nature of WP - people will edit articles about topics they care about, which often causes undue weight. After all, Rebecca Clarke is an FA and she's pretty minor. ♫ Melodia Chaconne ♫ 13:50, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Name and Spelling
i think perhaps a word is in order describing how one gets from schulz to praetorius, which i assume must be related to the latin 'praetor', a military commander or magistrate.also, even the illustration from the period in the infobox gives the german spelling 'prätorius'.Toyokuni3 (talk) 20:32, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
