[edit] Misc. misplaced deletion comments

  • Can we delete this page? It's just an extension of an advertising campaign. My guess is Saatchi put it here Bhny 16:10, 8 November 2005 (UTC)
  • I understand why you might think that. The only real source for information on Power and the campaign is news stories (cited in the article) that rely heavily upon Guinness company spokesmen for their sources. However, this was my attempt at a NPOV discussion of the topic, and I can assure you I do not work for Guinness. I didn't even drink Guinness when I lived in Cameroon. Perhaps removing some of the Guinness quotes might make the piece read less like an advertisement. I'll take another look later today. —Amcaja 16:58, 8 November 2005 (UTC)
  • Conditional vote to keep. I don't drink beer and haven't seen these ads; however, if, as mentioned, this ad campaign has been very successful, then it deserves to be noted on that basis (cf Marlboro Man, Energizer Bunny, Ronald McDonald, etc, etc.) - 08 November 2005
  • Aside from a few minor changes, to clean up certain paragraphs, I can see no reason why this article needs deleting at all.User:MwmonkMwmonk19:28 8 november 2005
  • I didn't know who Michael Power was. I didn't know Guinness was a beer. I didn't find out until the third from the last paragraph that it was a beer. That needs to be explained at the beginning. Keep the article. It was informative. The article is not about how good the beer is. It is not about how strong it can make you. It is about something I didn't know anything about. That is one of the main purposes of an encyclopedia. Gringo Equis in Texas.
  • I vote STAY. Very informative and well written without being an advertising campaign. This sort of information belongs in Wiki because it reflects contemporary life. But how can you not know that Guinness is a beer!?!? ;-)--The Singularity 21:39, 8 November 2005 (UTC)
  • The article offers an interesting insight into how a leading advertising agency thinks about a global brand. User:barrigr1
  • If a decision is made to delete this page, I think that it would be valuable to have a re-write of the article linked to advertising / branding / marketing topics. From the current content, it appears that parts of the Power campaign are similar to 'viral' campaigns: the TV spots have high production values and are entertaining enough for consumers to view by choice.
  • Keep it. Can we delete the template now? Obey 15:16, 9 November 2005 (UTC)
