[edit] Fictional Character Biography

[edit] Origin

Microwave began his life as part of a series of robots hailing from an alternate future timeline, known as the Cyberverse, where robots have taken control of the Earth, hunting down humans to near extinction. It first appeared during a raid on Pinstripe's secret warehouses. A Microwave unit had been sent back in time by Timemaster to destroy Freedom Force. After a battling with Freedom Force, the robot was temporarily subdued. It was taken back to the Freedom Fortress, where it was reprogrammed by Mentor. Unfortunately, during the reprogramming Mentor erased most of its memories of the future it had come from. Microwave chose to join Freedom Force in their battle against evil.

[edit] Powers

Microwave is a radioactively powered robot utilizing advanced technology from the future and he can manipulate the radiation that powers him in a variety of ways. Typically this involves creating blasts of radiation to attack his foes but, he has shown the ability to use radiation in more creative ways like altering a creatures genetic structure.

Microwave also has a high degree of control over his constituent matter. This control allows him to teleport short distances or to make part or all of his body intangible. A favorite attack of his is to phase his arm out and punch it into an opponent, only to phase it back in, causing intense pain and internal damage. Microwave is also able to create temporary duplicates of himself.

Microwave's robot body possesses nearly superhuman strength, is incredibly resistant to physical damage, and is able to enact minor self repairs. However, his robotic body is very slow moving and vulnerable to electrical attacks.

[edit] Possible allusions

Microwave's appearance modeled directly after Wildfire from the Legion of Super-Heroes. He could also be seen as an homage to Marvel characters Vision and Nimrod. He also shares a similar origin with Booster Gold, being time travelers trapped in the past.
