Microsoft Liquid Motion was supposed to be Microsoft's answer to Adobe Flash. The main goal was to "deliver web animation for anyone". A beta was released in 1998, but the technology never made it to the marketplace, and was soon discontinued by Microsoft. However, animations created with Liquid Motion are browser-independent; they can be viewed with any browser that runs Java.
