Mickey's Halloween Treat

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mickey's Halloween Treat is an annual Halloween-themed separate admission (also called a hard ticket event) at Disney's California Adventure, part of the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California since 2005. An earlier event with the same name had been held in the late 1990's at Disneyland, and both are and have been considered to be a family-centered response to the scare-centered events Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood and Knott's Scary Farm at Knott's Berry Farm.

Guests are encouraged to dress in costumes, including adults and those over the age of nine years of age who are normally prohibited from doing so. However, guests dressed as a Disney Character (like Mickey Mouse) are not allowed to have their pictures taken with other guests or sign autographs as those are done by cast members (Disney-speak for employees). Events include trick-or-treating with candy provided by Mars' Snickers brand among others, and healthier alternatives like carrot slices and red and green apple slices provided by Disney-licensee Imagination Farms under the "Disney Gardens" brand, meet and greet chances with the Princesses from Disney's animated movies, Mickey and Minnie in Halloween costumes and Disney villains plus coloring activities for the younger guests and dance parties.

Fifteen minutes before the end of the event, a "cavalcade" (parade) is held featuring the characters from the Disney character family (including JoJo's Circus stars JoJo and Goliath) to put a festive end to the activities. In 2007 they updated this parade to include Mickey-shaped pumpkin "whirly-pods", and more floats.
