[edit] Previous Names

The MRHA is a combination of the Michigan Inline Hockey Association (MIHA) and the Detroit Roller Hockey Association (DRHA). In January of 2006, the MIHA ceased operations and combined its teams and leagues with the DRHA. kids

[edit] Rinks

The MIHA's original rinks included Plex Arena (formerly Skateplex) in Sterling Heights, and MaxxArena in Shelby Township.

The DRHA's rink was the Joe Dumars Fieldhouse in Sterling Heights.

In January of 2006, Plex Arena was sold to a local business. The new MRHA operates out of MaxxArena and Joe Dumars Fieldhouse.

[edit] Leagues

The MRHA has 3 leagues, each with many divisions. Leagues for the 2006 Winter season include House, Rec and Open. There are Youth and Adult divisions within each league.

[edit] House

House divisions consist of the lowest talented players. The players are picked individually for teams by the league.

[edit] Rec

Rec divisions may consist of more talented players. The difference between house and rec is that entire teams are signed up for the division by a coach.

[edit] Open

Open divisions consist of the best players in the league on preformed teams not selected by the league.

[edit] Affiliation

Although the MIHA was affiliated with the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) for its inline hockey, the MRHA has no such connection with the AAU or USA Hockey Inline. This may or may not change in the future.

[edit] Official system

The MRHA uses a 2-referee system. Both referees wear orange armbands and have equal authority over the game.
