Michelle Royer (born January 5, 1966) was crowned Miss Texas USA and went on to win the title Miss USA.

[edit] Miss USA

Royer was the 3rd of five consecutive winners from Texas, known as the Texas Aces. At the 1987 Miss Universe pageant, she won the preliminary competition, but on finals night, she finished 2nd runner-up to Cecilia Bolocco of Chile.

[edit] Personal life

Michelle Royer is married to "Banana Don" Jefferson, morning on-air personality at country-formatted radio station WITL-FM in Lansing, Michigan. The pair met during an appearance when Royer made a stop in Pittsburgh shortly after winning her Miss USA title. Jefferson, who was then working mornings at WBZZ, which was broadcasting live from the event, told his on-air partner Jim Quinn, "I'm gonna go hit on Miss USA."

Jefferson initially intended his statement to be little more than a comedy bit to use on the air, but was taken a back when Royer accepted his reqest for a date after he approached her. A romance quickly blossomed between the couple, and they were married a year later.

Royer joined her husband briefly as half of the morning show behind the microphone when Jefferson accepted a new job as morning on-air personality at adult contemporary-formatted WSHH in Pittsburgh. She later resigned this position to focus on raising the couple's two daughters.
