Michelle Conn

Michelle ("Mary") Conn (born May 17, 1963 in Edmonton, Alberta) is a former field hockey player from Canada, who represented her native country at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. There she ended up in seventh place with the Canadian National Team, after having finished in sixth position four years earlier in Seoul, South Korea.
Conn was a member of the Canadian National Women's Field Hockey Team from 1984 to 1992 – playing a total number of 93 games, and she was a National Carded Athlete from 1983 to 1992. She was co-captain of the team from 1989 to 1992. An alternate on the 1984 Canadian Olympic Team, she played in two Pan American Games – winning silver in 1991, and two World Cups – winning bronze in 1986.
Conn played with the University of Calgary Dinosaurs for five years and was a CIAU All-Canadian Athlete. Later, as a competitive athlete, she passed on her skills to the Dinosaurs team for three years as an assistant coach and also worked with the Alberta under-16 Women's Field Hockey Team.
Conn was regarded as one of the best left-wings and top goal scorers in Canadian women's field hockey. She has received numerous awards including the Alberta Achievement Award in 1987 and 1988. In Junior and Senior High School, Conn was an achiever in basketball, volleyball, and field hockey, and at a community level was very skilled as a top scorer in soccer and ice hockey.
