Michele Scarponi (born September 25, 1979 in Jesi) is an Italian professional road bicycle racer. In 2006, Scarponi was implicated in the Operación Puerto doping case. Despite this, and Scarponi's Liberty Seguros-Würth cycling team folding, Scarponi was able to secure a contract with Acqua & Sapone, with whom he had started his career in 2002.

Despite a promising start to the 2007 season, Scarponi was once again implicated in the Operación Puerto case. On May 8, 2007, Scarponi confessed his role in the case.[1] On May 15, Scarponi was provisionally suspended.[2]
