Michalis Kousis

Michalis Koussis (Greek: Μιχάλης Κούσης, 1953 - 2005) was one of the greatest Greek Marathon runners in history.

He was born in 1953 in Agrinio in the Aitoloakarnania prefecture and was an atlete of the Agrinio Gymnast Company (GEA) and member of the Greek national team from 1971 to 1987. He participated in the Olympic Games in 1976 and in 1984 and won many times Panhellenic and Balkan records in Marathon running. His greatest moment was his gold medal which won in 1979 during the Mediterranean Games in Split in present day Croatia where he founded just slightly from the world record. In the same year, he was awarded and as the greatest athlete in all sporting events.

He died in 2005 from heart problems where he done training in a beach in Thessaloniki.
