From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Michael Weston King (born 1961 in Derby) is an English singer-songwriter. From 1994 to 2001 he was with alternative country band The Good Sons and works as a solo musician since then.
King grew up in Southport near Liverpool. After a short attempt to study in Manchester he went back to his home tow to found the band Fragile Friends. After a few little successful recordings they dissolved. King had been interested in New Wave-bands and later in the music of Elvis Costello. Then he became more and more interested in US-american bands such as R.E.M. and Dwight Yoakam. He founded the band the Good Sons - named after an album by Nick Cave, that was commercially fairly successful. Since 1999 he has been active as a solo musician.
King worked among others with Jackie Leven, Townes Van Zandt and Chris Hillman.
