Michael Tapper was a member of the indie-rock band We Are Scientists until November 2007 along with Keith Murray and Chris Cain. He played the drums for the band and also assisted with backing vocals. [1]
He has won This is Fake DIY's Beard of the Year award two years running.[2] He is a graduate of Harvey Mudd College, an engineering school. He enjoys cheese of the not-moldy variety.[3]
On November 1st, 2007 it was announced that Michael Tapper "relinquished his duties as drummer of We Are Scientists in order to "pursue other things."[4]
His leaving We Are Scientists left him ineligible to retain his beard of the year crown for a third year.[5]
He is currently collaborating with Luke Top and listed as "voice / hand drum." [6]
Additionally, Michael was a 1996 graduate of the now defunct Lexington Academy in Farmers Branch, a suburb of Dallas, Texas. An avid runner during his high school days, he finished 11th, one spot from being awarded All-State honors, at the 1995 TAPPS(Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools) State Cross Country Meet. While at Lexington, he was also a major part of the state champion pop vocal & sacred ensemble, First Light, & the lead player in a state champion percussion ensemble, amongst other awards.
