Michael Sutton

Michael Sutton (born June 18, 1970, Los Angeles, California) is an American actor who is best known for playing the HIV-positive teenager and AIDS victim Stone Cates on the long running daytime serial General Hospital. He was nominated for two Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 1995 and in 1996 for that role. His character died Nov. 26, 1995, in what Soap Opera Digest magazine hailed in 1997 as General Hospital's greatest death scene [1]]. His character infected the character of Robin Scorpio (played by multiple Emmy winner Kimberly McCullough, whose character is still HIV+ today. Sutton graduated from Cal State University at Northridge in May 1992 with a B.A. in film production and an emphasis on directing. Today, he is an entrepreneur who has stakes in several careers and businesses. He is partner with his legendary father, Joe Sutton of Freeman & Sutton Public Relations Firm, whose clients Martin Lawrence, Burt Reynolds, Christopher Walken, Elijah Wood, Patty Duke, Miramax, Oprah Winfrey and the American Film Institute. He is arguably the most successful nightlife-private party promoter-to-the-stars in Los Angeles. Also, he owns or co-owns several trendy restaurants, including the Lodge Steakhouse and Goa supper club. He is a co-founding partner and president of marketing of a private membership community called Xenii, a high-end mobile country club for an elite group of celebrities, high net worth individuals, and party-goers. He co-owns the brandSUTTON PR and marketing firm. He is credited as Executive Producer alongside legendary Quincy Jones on the documentary The Freshest Kids. He is president of Standing O Pictures.
