Michael Mandel (economist)

Michael J. Mandel is an economist and economic journalist. Currently he is the chief economist of the economic magazine Business Week. He wrote the quote on the front of some editions of Sylvia Nasar's A Beautiful Mind.

He is the author of many books, including The High Risk Society(1996), The Coming Internet Depression (2000), Rational Exuberance: Silencing the Enemies of Growth and Why the Future Is Better Than You Think (2004).

He holds a Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University.

He spoke at the Startup School at Stanford University on 24th March, 2007

On March 25, 2008 he spoke at the Coastal Georgia Center in Savannah, Georgia, and on March 26 at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia. He spoke concerning "What's next for the economy?"

He is currently writing a basic economics textbook for McGraw-Hill, and resides in Millburn, New Jersey and has two children.
