Michael Lewis (musician)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mike Lewis is a Minnesota saxophonist and bassist. He is currently playing saxophone in Fat Kid Wednesdays and Happy Apple. Michael also plays electric bass in Alpha Consumer and Red Start. He has also contributed to other projects, such as Dosh's 2006 LP The Lost Take.

Lewis began singing to his father's (Greg Lewis) practice routine while still in the crib. After trying trumpet, Michael settled on the saxophone at age 10. While in high school he went to hear his aunt (Wendy Lewis) play with Rhea Valentine at all ages show. He began to practice the upright bass during lunch and skip classes. Though playing bass quite regularly at this point, he still finds himself endlessly grateful that he can share the stage with such brilliant and seasoned rock musicians.

Happy Apple, in which Lewis plays saxophones and on rare occasion upright bass, displayed "Progressive jazz for a safer America..." on their Myspace page for a long period of time.
