Michael Lachowski is the bass guitar player for the Athens, GA band Pylon (band). He was born in Norfolk, Virginia and attended the University of Georgia art school where he got a degree in photographic design. He and his roommate Randy Bewley came up with the concept of Pylon (band) and approached the creation of the band as artists. Michael and Randy along with fellow band member Vanessa Briscoe Hay had no prior experience as musicians and were able to work "outside the box" creating new ways of putting danceable sounds together. Curtis Crowe is the most experienced member of the band and maintained a rock steady beat on the drums. They recorded the single "Cool/Dub,", an album Gyrate, an ep !!, another album Chomp and two singles. Pylon (band) toured the U.S., Canada and the U.K. before breaking up in 1983. They returned to tour again and record another album in the late 80's and early 90's before breaking up yet again. Pylon (band) reformed for fun in 2005 and continue to occasionally perform. Their first album "Gyrate Plus" was reissued on October 16, 2007 by DFA records, New York. Michael currently has a graphic design firm in Athens, GA called Candy and a magazine called Young, Foxy and Free. He also works on occasion as a DJ and has been involved as a participant in the Bike Ride Across Georgia for years.
