Michael Kramm is President of Capresso, Inc. which he founded in 1994 to market high-end coffeemakers, espresso machines, grinders and other kitchen electrics. The company also markets upscale automatic coffee centers under the Jura-Capresso brand name.
Originally from Frankfurt, Germany, Kramm came to the United States in 1976 to establish the Krups brand. During a corporate career as President of Krups USA, Kramm introduced the American consumer to high-end Euro-style coffeemakers and launched the in-home espresso market, now estimated at $200 million retail in the United States.
Capresso was named “Best Small Appliance Company” in a 2003 poll of independent retailers conducted by Gourmet Retailer magazine, with product innovation cited as one of the company’s key strengths.
The name “Capresso” – originally suggested by Doris, Kramm’s wife of more than 35 years – combines the words “cappuccino” and “espresso”.
