Michael K. Wirth

Michael K. Wirth is Chevron Corporation's executive vice president for Global Downstream,[1] a position he assumed in March 2006. He is responsible for directing the company's worldwide refining, marketing, lubricants, and supply and trading businesses[2].

Wirth was born in 1960. A native of Golden, Colorado, he graduated from Golden High School in 1978 and from the University of Colorado with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering in 1982. He was an All Conference basketball player in High School, and competed in the Trivia Bowl at the University of Colorado for eight years.

Prior to his current role, Wirth served as Chevron's president of Global Supply and Trading, responsible for leading the corporation's worldwide supply and trading operations as well as its aviation, marine and asphalt businesses.

He has also served as president of Marketing for Caltex Corp., based in Singapore and responsible for the company's retail, wholesale and aviation fuels marketing businesses across Asia and Africa. He also served on the board of directors for Caltex Australia Ltd.[3] and GS-Caltex in South Korea.

Wirth currently serves on the Dean's Enineering Advisory Committee at the University of Colorado,[4] and also serves as a Director on the San Francisco 49'ers Foundation[5] and the Tiger Woods Foundation.
