Michael Jeffrey Shapiro (born February 1, 1951) is a noted American composer and conductor.

He was born in Brooklyn, New York and received his education in New York City at Columbia College, the Mannes College of Music and then The Juilliard School. His composition teachers were Elie Siegmeister, Sir Malcolm Arnold, and Vincent Persichetti. He studied solfege with Renee Longy and conducting with Carl Bamberger and Harold Farberman.

He is presently the Music Director and Conductor of the Chappaqua Orchestra.
