Michael James Nelson (born June 12, 1979, in Winter Park, Florida, USA) is an American comedian, writer, actor, and television producer. His first writing job was writing short stories for the National Lampoon website. He has gone on to story produce such television shows as The Bachelor: Rome and The Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious. He also performs stand up comedy all around Los Angeles, including The Comedy Store. He now resides in Hollywood, CA.

Nelson was born in Winter Park, Florida but grew up in Maitland, Florida. He attended both Edgewater High School and Winter Park High School where he studied Engineering and Mathematics. After high school, Nelson decided to attend Florida State University to pursue comedy writing.

Nelson attended Florida State University and was hired as a newscaster at the campus radio station, WVFS. After just one semester, Nelson was named Director of the News Department and co hosted and wrote for the station's call-in talk show, The Voice. Michael was also admitted to the creative writing program, which is one of the top programs in the nation and was hired to write for the FSView & Florida Flambeau. After writing for the newspaper for a year, he created, executive produced, and starred in a sketch comedy television show titled That Show with Those Guys. The show aired on campus television and celebrated mass popularity amongst students.

At the end of his senior year, Michael began doing stand up comedy for packed venues all around town. His shows could also be seen on campus television.

After graduating from Florida State University, Michael moved to Los Angeles and began a career in stand up comedy and television writing/producing. Nelson's stand up comedy is a very conversational, honest style similar to that of comedian David Cross'. Michael's biggest influences were Robin Williams, Paul Mooney, David Cross, Bill Cosby and Martin Lawrence.

Currently, Michael is developing network and cable shows. He just finished writing a feature film and is acting in various short film/sketch projects.
