Michael Starr is a British playwright born 13 March 1977 in Chichester, England.

His works include Stranded, Planet of the Zers, Waiting for Mr Smith, and Leave me Alone! amongst others.

Michael began writing short comedy sketches as part of a team for local stand up comedian Graeme Storer. In 1999, his intelligent debut short Dilemma was nominated, and subsequently produced, as a local competition winner along with five other shorts at the Congress Theatre, Eastbourne.

In 2006, Michael's flagship debut play Stranded was completed following four years of drafting, and quickly gained a nomination for best play by a debut playwright at the New York Summer Play Festival. Later that year, Stranded successfully premiered with Colnbrook Stage Theatre, London, England. In early 2007, Stranded was globally published as a paperback through a series of major bookstores care of Lulu Press. Expression Theatre nominated Stranded for their Summer play of season 2008.

Michael Starr caused a stir among local religious groups in 2007 when writing short play Philostologyism. The short mocked religious views from various beliefs. Philostologyism is a religion created by Michael Starr as a parody.

Michael is currently working on three follow up projects, Planet of the Zers, The Balcony and The Kingdom of Mangelaer. The Balcony is scheduled for paperback release mid-2008. In addition, several short plays are currently being drafted to feature in a shorts of... limited edition paperback.
