Michael J. Cleary (Roman Catholic Bishop)

Michael J. Cleary (born 1 September 1925) is the Roman Catholic Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Banjul, Gambia. He was born in Brickens, County Mayo, Ireland. He was ordained a priest on 29 June 1952 for the Congregation of the Holy Spirit. On 24 January, 1981 he was appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Banjul[1]. He was ordained a bishop on 24 March, 1981. The Principal Consecrator was Archbishop Johannes Dyba; his Principal Co-Consecrators were Archbishop Joseph Ganda, and Bishop Michael Joseph Maloney, C. S. Sp. The bishop retired from his appointment on 25 February, 2006 at the age of almost eighty-one.
