Michael J. Berman is the New York City businessman who founded George Magazine with John F. Kennedy, Jr and served as its President until 1998. The two had apparently been quietly working on the project for several years before selling an interest to global publisher Hachette Filipacchi Media which launched it to great fanfare in 1995. When Berman was asked by a reporter at the launch press conference what it was like to be a business partner of the celebrated son of America's 35th President it was widely reported that he quipped, "I imagine it's a lot like being Dolly Parton's feet. While they may be very nice they're hardly what most people focus on."
Berman has subsequently helmed several media-related and investment companies and as of 2003 serves as President of Galaxy Ventures.
