Michael Holmes (1981-) is a US citizen and retired motorcycle rider. He was born in Brockton, Massachusetts; graduated from Suffolk University in 2003. He is currently a well known comrade and riding expert who lives in a local beach community of San Diego.

[edit] Early Life

The father of Holmes is entrepreneur Big Tommy, a well learned businessman originally from Lynn, MA. He spent his high school education years studying in Brazil, and later attended Bridgewater State College where he met Michael’s mother. Annemarie, originally from Holbrook, Massachusetts, also studied at Bridgewater State College and is now a teacher. The couple eventually moved to Brockton, and then Bridgewater. Holmes has two siblings, older brother Tom and younger sister Michele.

Michael graduated from all levels of schooling he attended from pre-school to college. He attended Williams Junior High and Bridgewater Raynham Regional High School. It was during these later teenage years were he discovered his true passion for extreme sports. He is a local legend in bicycle motocross. Many say he often tells stories of ollies, bruises, and 360 degree motion turns on various extreme transportational devices. He finished 2nd, 3rd, and 3rd once more, in three Southeastern Mass Moto-Tike Championships between 1993 and 1996. Labeled as a hot newcomer while popularity in the X-Games increased in the New England area, Holmes signed up with AMA.

As X-Games Two approached in 1996, Holmes was already practicing at friendly tracks in Providence. Unexpectedly, he broke his left tibia during a practice run two weeks before the event. The predictions by various bike magazines would not be fulfilled, and Holmes did not enter into the BMX Vert Double competition.

After a brief tenure at W.I.T. in Boston, he transferred to Suffolk University, graduating in 2003 with a degree in Advertising. During his Suffolk years, he lived in Brighton. In and out of dumpy college apartments, he came across a world of characters from transients to inebriates.

[edit] Knight of the Road

Trading in BMX for a life of new adventures, Holmes decided on a continental road trip drive to San Diego, California in August of 2004. In Pacific Beach, a community well known for its influence in extreme sports culture, he was forced to pick up a new hobby. An avid surfer, Holmes aids younger beach goers when he sees them practice their first wheelie, or try to catch their first break.

[edit] Recent Activity

Recently, Holmes has continued extreme sports in various places across the US. In July of 2007, he joined Dave, Marie, friends, and family for a series of water sport challenges: fishing, boating, PWC, water skiing, and fire starting to boot. The photograph below shows Holmes and a mysterious wingman in Lake Powell, Utah.
