Also known as Mick Fryar, Michael Fryar born in Sydney, Australia on July 11, 1985, is an Australian rock and roll guitarist who has been a regular member of well known Australian bands such as the punk rockabilly trio The Bazooka Joes and more so currently with classic rockers The Loves.
[edit] Early Days
Michael first started playing the guitar at the age of 5 but did not begin to take it too seriously until the age of 13 when attending High School. His pasion of rockabilly and Gretsch guitars soon powered him onto establishing one of the finest young 'billy acts to come out of Australia. The Bazooka Joes played regularly and their CD found itself cemented (apparently of course) in fellow Aussie rockers The Living Ends CD players as quoted by drummer Andy Strachan. The Bazooka Joes went onto getting high recognition in Japan where most CDs were sold, as well as the USA where Mike Lewis of Fender Musical Instrument Corporation chased after Michael to make him only Australia's third endorsed musician for Gretsch Guitars.
[edit] 2006 - Now
Since his departure from The Bazooka Joes, Michael would go on as a professional Sydney session guitarist on the live scene. After shows playing alongside Ian Moss from the legendary Cold Chisel and residencies in some of the cities leading rooms such as The Coogee Bay Hotel, The Orient in The Rocks, Mean Fiddler and as well as half time and full time entertainment at Stadium Australia for the NRL semis. Michael is now playing guitar full time in The Loves.
Michael's current trademark is the Gretsch White Falcon electric guitar, as shared by his heroes Malcolm Young, Brian Setzer and his mate Chris Cheney of The Living End, which Michael has also been lucky enough to play guitar in for a special occasion. Michael collects guitars, mainly Gretsches. He owns several 6120s and Jets, as well as first ever Gretsch which is a mint condition 1961 Tennessean. Michael plays Marshall, Vox and Matchless amps and uses Fulltone, Ulbrick and Boss pedals.
