Michael Fay Park is the ground of the Longford Slashers GAA club. The grounds were opened in 1980 and since then there is continual work to improve the facilities. Presently there are 3 football fields and dressing rooms. There is also a bar and function room. Backstage Theatre and centre for the Arts is also located on the Slashers club grounds.
The clubgrounds were renamed Michael Fay Park in 1988 in memory of deceased club member Michael 'Smiler' Fay. Michael was a dedicated clubman who was at the heart of the football club in the 60's, 70's and early 80's. He died tragically young and will always be remembered by GAA people all over the country.
