Michael D. Smith

Michael D. Smith is the Gordon McKay Professor of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering in the Division of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Harvard University. He is also the division's Associate Dean for Computer Science and Engineering. In addition to his academic position, Smith is the Chief Scientist and co-founder of Liquid Machines, Inc., a provider of enterprise rights management software. According to a June 5, 2007 press release by Harvard on the university's home page, he has been named the new dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
Smith received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Stanford University in 1993, his master of science degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1985, and his bachelor of science in electrical engineering and computer science from Princeton University in June 1983.
