Michael Carr (Lib Dem politician)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Michael Carr (born January 31, 1946) is a British politician for the Liberal Democrats.

Previously a member of the Conservatives, he changed to the SDP and joined the Liberal Democrats on their formation. A local councillor in Ribble Valley, he won the 1991 Ribble Valley by-election for the party, but failed to retain the seat at the 1992 general election, coming second. He contested the seat at the 1997 election and the 2001 election, coming second again.

He stood again at the 2005 general election for the Lib Dems, this time for the nearby Rossendale and Darwen constituency, coming third. [1]

Michael currently takes more of a back seat role in politics and now is involved part time with Bacup Borough Football Club on the commercial side.
