Michael Arndt is an Academy Award-winning screenwriter. He is best known for writing the screenplay for Little Miss Sunshine, for which he received the Academy Award for best original screenplay.

In 2001 Arndt wrote the screenplay of the film Little Miss Sunshine and gave it to producers Ron Yexra and Albert Berger to find the potential directors. The screenplay was purchased from first-time screenwriter Arndt for $250,000. Arndt was fired because Focus Feature wanted changes made to the script. Arndt was rehired after the new writer left after four weeks of re-writing the script. Arndt won the oscar for Best Original Screenplay at the 79th Annual Academy Awards for writing the screenplay of Little Miss Sunshine. Disney Pixar Studios hired him to write the screenplay of Toy Story 3.

Arndt had to quit his job as assistant to Matthew Broderick in order to write the Oscar winning screenplay for Little Miss Sunshine. Arndt is one of 115 people invited to join the AMPAS in 2007.
