Michael A. O'Connor

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Michael A. O'Connor is currently the mayor of Berwyn, Illinois. He was elected in April of 2005 defeating Republican Anthony Castrogiovanni, Democrat Michael Woodward, and Independent Raymond Fron. O'Connor had previously run for mayor in 2001 but narrowly lost to incumbent Thomas G. Shaughnessy.

Once a member of the Democratic Party, O'Connor was elected as a representative of the Independent Voters of Berwyn and, as a candidate, portrayed himself as a reformer citing a number of scandals associated with the administration of his Democratic predecessor. He has since realigned Berwyn government, restructured finances, bringing the city budget into the black for the first time in years.
