Michał Tyszkiewicz
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Michał Tyszkiewicz (1828-1897) was a Polish-Lithuanian collector of aniques and amateur Egyptologist, member of the once powerful Tyszkiewicz noble family.
He excavated at Luxor in 1861-1862 and revisited Egypt in 1867-1868, building up a collection during his travels. It is now split between Paris, London, Copenhagen, Berlin, Boston and Rome. A small part of it remains in Poland - in the Tyszkiewicz Palace at Lohojsk (White Rutenia) and the National Museum in Warsaw.[1]
