Michaël Goossens (born November 30, 1973 in Ougrée) is a Belgian former football striker who played with Standard Liège, Genoa CFC, FC Schalke 04, Grazer AK, Sint-Truidense VV, K.A.S. Eupen and RUS Bercheux. As a young player, he wore the shirts of FC Tilleur and FC Sérésien, two clubs from the Liège suburb. Goossens won the Young Professional Footballer of the Year award for the 1992-93 season.
He is one of the three musketeers (himself, Philippe Léonard and Régis Genaux) from Standard Liège, from whom much was expected but failed to deliver, especially in the national team. Roberto Bisconti also belongs to this promising generation.
"Mika" played with Belgium, starting on February 13, 1993 in a 0-3 away win to Cyprus, entering the field after 87 minutes. From then until 2000, he won 14 caps for them and scored once (18 selections). He was very unlucky, playing in the qualification round for three World Cups (1994, 1998, 2002), only to miss the final cut, just like Genaux and Léonard. He also wasn't selected for EURO 2000 due to injury.
