Primarily Republican Chinese propaganda now, though if I find the time (and will) I'll do a ComChi subsection. Or Soviet. Or Nazi. Or American. Actually, Battle of China is an American piece of propaganda. I've some anti-Japanese American propaganda posters (quality is bad though) which I can upload.

[edit] Frank Capra's The Battle of China
My thoughts and observations watching "The Battle of China", which I watched tonight:
- It opened with an orchestral rendition of the March of the Volunteers and ended with a vocal.
- I grinned from ear to ear when the narrator conceded that China is 1/3 larger than America... :D Similarly when he conceded that it is the largest country in the world next to Russia. Stupid commies. Losing so much land.
- "China consists of China proper and 4 outer provinces... Manchuria, Mongolia, Sinkiang and Tibet." Suck that lama lovers.
- Nice allusion to The Good Earth.
- Oh great, Chinese stereotypes abound, too.
- No war of conquest in 4000 years? Yeah right.
- Analects of Confucius: What are those squiggly stuff? Hiragana?
- No Japanese accent when Tanaka was talking? Geez those had become standard issue.
- National Anthem of the Republic of China playing when Sun Yat-sen was speaking - very inspirational.
- I was quite fascinated by the scene where the cross and BlueSkyWhiteSunRedEarth were placed side by side.
- Chiang Kai-shek disciple of Sun Yat-sen? Naaaah.
- A scene of Japanese ministers (Tanaka presumably, and others) had a Hanzi on the right - Zhu (pig).
- Great Wall visible from moon - OK, so that rumour started there. Or before.
- I "like" how the narrator lamely "explained" the foreign concessions in Shanghai.
- Frenchies rescuing baby - I like them a bit more now.
- Mao Zedong got an appearance as a "Good Guy" too.
- Everyone who "spoke" Chinese had a Cantonese accent - they probably got some Chinese Americans to do it. Even Mao had a Cantonese accent! Well, at least not a Hunnanese one.
- I really liked the soundtrack.
- The ending was... anticlimatic to say the least. Here's how the film went.

- Imagine my surprise. I mean, the March of the Volunteers has just finished and the screen already changed to something along the lines of "We were spared the Yellow Peril... by the Chinese people who selflessly fought for freedom and liberty." Um, c'mon.
- But other than that, I think this is one of the best, if not the best, English language resource for learning about the Second Sino-Japanese War in a nutshell. It is true that certain parts of the film may be factually incorrect (and not just the Tanaka Memorial), but it does present a general overall view of the chronology of the war. Propaganda is of course present, such as, no mention of the disastrous consequences of the destruction of the Yellow River dykes, besides that it had to be done "no matter the cost". I would not consider that decision a correct one no matter what it achieved. Also liberal usage of "Jap" and "Nip". Not a problem with me but I guess it'd be best to make it clear first.
