Miaoyu

Miaoyu(妙玉, Adamantine) is a major character in Dream of the Red Chamber. She is a young, accomplished nun who runs the convent in the Buddhist cloisters of Grandview Garden, which makes up one corner of it. Miaoyu is very beautiful and a talented poet but arrogant and disdainful. She looks down on lower class people, including a vistor, Granny Liu. Her abduction by robbers in the end of the novel lead to her friend Jia Xichun's decision to become a nun in her place. Miaoyu is the last of "Jinling City's Twelve Beauties" to be introduced.
