The surname Miaoulis (Μιαούλης) brought in a famous historic family of the island of Hydra in the Saronic Islands. The remainder changed their surname to Vokos, one of them included Dimitris Vokos and the most famous of the family was the greatest naval leader of the Greek War of Independence in 1821 Andreas Miaoulis.
