[edit] History

The School was constructed in 1974 and opened in 1976 (with only 10th & 11th graders) as an overcrowding and distance relief school for nearby South Dade High School. The first graduating class was the class of 1978. The school had only 10th through 12th graders until the 1987-1988 school year, when Southridge received their first freshmen class. The school contains one of the largest campuses in the district, featuring it's own baseball, soccer, and especially it's own football field, something other schools in the district lack.

The school's 1993-1994 Football Team won the State Championship Title. As of the 2005-2006 school year, students have been required to wear uniforms. As of the 2006-2007 school year, the school has changed from having a traditional bell schedule (all the classes in one day), to having a block schedule (certain classes on certain days).
