The film focuses on Gwyn Marcus (Sarah Jessica Parker) as she accepts her boyfriend's (Bellows) marriage proposal. As she learns of each member of her family's infedilities she grows more cynical and jaded about marriage, also she is continually pressured by her mother (Farrow) to set a date.
