Miami Project to Cure Paralysis

The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis is a research center dedicated to research in the field of paralysis and spinal cord injury, with the eventual object of finding a cure for paralyzing injuries. Based at the Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine of the University of Miami, it is considered a world leader in neurological injury research.
The center was founded in 1985 by a group consisting of one research physician and three people who had dealt with spinal cord injuries. The best-known of the group to the general public was Pro Football Hall of Famer Nick Buoniconti, whose son Marc had just suffered a paralyzing spinal cord injury in a football game. Other major supporters of the center include music superstar Gloria Estefan, who suffered serious back injuries in a 1990 tour bus accident, and the Lynyrd Skynyrd band, whose late former guitarist, Allen Collins, had been paralyzed in a car accident. Superman actor Christopher Reeve was treated there.
Buffalo Bill's Kevin Everett's doctors have been in contact with the project from the beginning of his treatment.
