Miami International University of Art & Design – is one of The Art Institutes, a system of more than 40 educational institutions located throughout North America, providing education in design, media arts, fashion and culinary arts.
Miami International University of Art & Design was founded in 1965 and was acquired in 2002 by The Art Institutes, a subsidiary of Education Management Corporation, which is headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Located at 1501 Biscayne Blvd. in Miami, Florida, Miami International University of Art & Design is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).[1]

[edit] Involvement in the Miami Arts Community
In 2004, the Miami New Times called Miami International University of Art & Design one of "Miami's most important art institutions” [2]. The school has frequently had art exhibitions at its gallery, including the World Refugee Day[3] and Manimalism[4] exhibitions in 2006.
