Miðborg (lit. city centre), also known as Miðborg Reykjavíkur, Austurbær and gamli Austurbær is the oldest district of Reykjavík, the capital city of Iceland. It is the administrative centre of Iceland, containing Alþingishúsið (the Icelandic parliament buildings), Stjórnarráðshúsið and the Supreme Court of Iceland. In addition, the area is home to many of the city’s landmarks, including the Tjörnin pond, the Ráðhús Reykjavíkur town hall, and Hallgrímskirkja, the fourth tallest structure in Iceland.
