For all your work with vandalism, but especially tonight (New Years Eve), I, Sharkface217, hereby award you with this barnstar. Good job, man.S h a r k f a c e 2 1 7 03:29, 1 January 2007 (UTC) |
[edit] Talk:Muhammad/images
My revert on that page was not meant as vandalism, I thought it should be seen and deleted by an admin not by some random person.--DanteAgusta (talk) 02:30, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
I do apologize if I did the wrong thing. Again, it was not my intention to do wrong.--DanteAgusta (talk) 02:55, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
That article is three pains and a half these days. I'm hoping that discussions can be curtailed when they're just provocative and unproductive, but I'm too young for ulcers, so I can only take it so far. Not taking the bait can be hard sometimes, which is why I've been blanking a lot of the really bad stuff that's useless anyhow. It's probably some premature to think I've done much worthwhile yet, though. WilyD 19:16, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
- Blocking IPs that aren't actively editing is rarely worthwhile. Block/ban evasions typically at a minimum reset the block/ban, but if someone's jumping around IPs, there's little value in blocking their old IP they're unlikely to use again. WilyD 12:28, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] WKYC-TV, WEWS-TV
My edits are not vandalism, please do not label them as such. Further, i was not the one that mis-spelled the newscast member's name, and I did not add Game Show Network to WKYC-TV's affiliations. It was there before i made my edits. I'm unsure if WKYC even airs GSN. RingtailedFox • Talk • Contribs 21:04, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
- Ahh! i see! it's ok. actually, i'll keep an eye out for that user and remind him to cite his sources before adding GSN to the digital subchannels of stations. RingtailedFox • Talk • Contribs 21:32, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Talk:Rachel Marsden
Regarding [1] in general it isn't a good idea to remove comments from the subject of an article and it is very much not a good idea to do so with an edit summary of "rm nonsense". JoshuaZ (talk) 02:08, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Talk:Bill Sweetman Internet Marketer
Hi Michael. Regarding Bill Sweetman Internet Marketer I made a few tweaks to this to try to remove anything that could be confused with an advertisement. See my notes in the Talk section of the page for the rationale for this page in general. Feedback is welcome, and I will act upon any constructive suggestions regarding edits to the page. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by BillSweetman (talk • contribs) 23:37, 2 March 2008 (UTC) Michael, thanks for your speedy and IMHO fair response to this; and that was a smart idea of yours to cross-link to the other Bill Sweetman's article and vice versa. Regards, Bill Sweetman (internet marketer) ;+). BillSweetman (talk) 23:52, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Talk: Barack Obama
Michael,
This is a request for you to restore the previous addition of information relating to Senator Obama's personal tastes from an exclusive interviews that Senator Obama gave to the largest circulation Chinese-language daily newspaper in the U.S. It is not vandalism by any means.
Senator Obama gave an exclusive interview to the Chinese-language newspaper, The World Journal, March 1, 2008, in which he revealed, among other things, his favorite Chinese dishes. This is significant and note-worthy because Senator Obama was born in Hawaii, and grew up in Hawaii and Indonesia, where he came into contact with Chinese cuisine and culture on a daily basis. He did not leave Asia until he went to college in Los Angeles. His brother-in-law is Chinese, and his sister is half-Indonesian.
Why don't you read the cited interview yourself? The translation of the article is found at: [2] This is the original article in Chinese:[3] As you can see, it is a graphically sophisticated article illustrated with several color photographs of the Obama family.
The World Journal is headquartered in New York, and published in half a dozen publishing plants throughout the U.S.
Because the online edition of The World Journal does not permit direct links to the relevant pages, the citation for this sentence is a facsimile reproduction (with the permission of The World Journal) of the interview in Chinese.
As the interview was published in the Chinese language, there is also cited an English translation of the interview. I have reviewed the English translation and can attest to its accuracy.

Michael, In response to your previous comment, I have changed the source to a reliable source, which is the Official Website of the Obama for America Website, under the Asian Americans for Obama page. [4] Actual interview (which was conducted in English) is found at [5]
The Obama campaign has obviously felt that it important enough to post it on its Official Website.
The citation is important because it a way to point readers to a new information source on Obama, that just became available online, and which is derived from one of the only detailed interviews that Obama has given recently to any publication in any language. This will be a valuable link for future researchers and reporters trying to find more information on Obama.
The interview with the World Journal was conducted last week during a time when Obama was extremely busy. It shows the tremendous importance that Obama places on the support of Asian Americans, who have up to now mostly supported other candidates. (See Time Magazine article, "Does Obama Have an Asian Problem?")
The information is also significant because Obama has a Chinese brother-in-law and half-Indonesian sister, and spent all his childhood until college living in Indonesia (where there is a very large Chinese population) and Hawaii, where he was in constant contact with Asian cultures and cuisines.
His taste in Chinese (and Hawaiian) dishes are sophisticated, and the answer that he gave in the interview is genuine. It corrects the misleading impression conveyed by the previous sentence in the paragraph that says his favorite food is "chili", which is probably much less accurate in fact, and much more likely to be a perfunctory politician's answer.
If you agree to put in the "chili" answer (which is likely to be much less accurate), then there is no reason you should keep out this much more accurate answer. Otherwise, you should take both out.

[edit] Howard University page
I noticed you placed a warning on the talk page of an unknown ip address (user talk:69.141.32.41) of an editor who keeps deleting info from the list of List of Howard University people page. Its been more than a week and he/she is back at it. Can you help?Marylandstater (talk) 22:05, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Correct, however it is the new logo...also, use an edit comment when reverted good-faith edits. NcSchu(Talk) 02:42, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
Sorry if I'm editing the wrong section, I don't really know how to use the user page. Anyway, I just got this message from you:
Please stop. If you continue to vandalise Wikipedia, as you did to Internet television, you will be blocked. --Mhking 22:53, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
(yes, I know it's old, but I just got the "new message" thingie)
I never edited that article, or any other article (apart from a couple typos I found). You got some sort of error.

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Southlake.gif)
Thanks for uploading Image:Southlake.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:21, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Spam link?
How in the world is a link to a trailer "spam". I don't spam. I am mildly offended to be accused of doing so. --GracieLizzie (talk) 13:29, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
- Apology accepted. However I can't think of a way to link to the trailer other than by examples of it hosted on news sites. --GracieLizzie (talk) 14:31, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Removing a Year Old Warning Feasibility?
It has been over a year since I received a warning regarding two mundane links to an external site. I would very much like to have the warning removed and return my account to a normal state. Thank you for your time and consideration. Hapa Hanu (talk) 02:03, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Please explain
Re: 76.195.180.84 (talk • contribs • deleted contribs • WHOIS • RDNS • trace • RBLs • http • block user • block log) sock of Dingbat2007 back at it again
Please explain what "it" is. If you're simply making a sock report, then that needs to be reported elsewhere. If "it" refers to specific vandalism, please say so in your AIV report. Doczilla STOMP! 00:34, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- FYI - More from this admin and my responses. dhett (talk • contribs) 07:00, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, an obvious sock of a block-evading vandal can be banned on sight. But if you want that to happen, you need to prove to admins that it is an obvious sock of a block-evading vandal. For example, a vandal once known as Creepy Crawler drives us nuts. A ready evidence list appears at Category talk:Wikipedia sockpuppets of Creepy Crawler so that any admin available to evaluate the sock can quickly take action. Without explaining anything about the history, you're asking an admin who doesn't know you to take you at your word when assuming good faith about your statement would mean failing to assume good faith about the other person. I've seen too many people make sock accusations against others, some of which could not be correct, to block somebody just because someone else makes a vague statement that a sock is "back at it again." If you want the person blocked quickly, you need to explain. Doczilla STOMP! 16:47, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
