[edit] Ukrainian information

(Ok, that was fast Dima! I have no idea how you posted that on the message board so quickly.) Anyway, there is a lot of paleontological stuff on the web about this find. I couldn't find much in the way of Ukr.-language articles on this place though. Please fill in if you have it handy!--tufkaa 01:10, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

Is this Межиріч?--tufkaa 03:13, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

I just did a quick Ukrainian Wikipedia search and came up with uk:Межирічи... Is it the same Mezhirich in uk wiki as in en wiki? But I'll look at what I have about Ukraine and see if there is anything about this place. —dima/s-ko/ 03:27, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

OK, apparently there are at least 2 селa named Межиріч in Ukraine. Ukiewiki has an article on both the archaeological site as well supposed culture which created it: Межиріцька культура. Given that Ukiewiki believes that this Межиріч is located in Cherkasy Oblast, as well as the coordinates 49 deg 38' N, 31 deg 24'E given in one of the online sources I linked to in the article, which are different than the coordinates in the Shtetlink page for a shtetl in Ekaterinoslav, I am going to assume it's not the Межиріч in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.

Thankfully, I have information on the Cherkasy Oblast at home.--tufkaa 04:57, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Other musical instruments

The other musical instruments found at the site included a xylophone-like decorated percussion instrument made from mammoth collar bones. It was played with an antler. I have never heard of a "drum" made of a mammoth skull found there. Badagnani 06:46, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Oh, these may have been found not in Mezhirich, but in Mezin/Mezyn. Why not Wikipedia article on that place? Badagnani 06:58, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Photo

I'd like a photo of the mammoth artifacts. --84.20.17.84 09:59, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
