Mezhgorye, Republic of Bashkortostan

Mezhgorye (Russian: Межгорье) is a closed town in the Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia. Population: 17,464 (est. 2006).
It is located in the southern Urals near Mount Yamantaw (Russian: Ямантау), about 200 km southeast of the capital of the republic, Ufa, at the banks of the Maly Inser River, a tributary of the Kama River, west of Beloretsk.
Mezhgorye is administratively directly under the republic, and is one of Russia's closed towns. The town consists of two settlements located 23 kilometers apart: Tatly (Russian: Татлы) and Solnechny (Russian: Солнечный), tidligere Kuzhelga (Russian: Кузъелга).

The town was founded around 1979 and then went by its codenames, Ufa-105 or Beloretsk-16. Town status was granted in 1995, under the name Mezhgorye (lit: between the mountains).
