I was born in Amarillo, Texas on April 30, 1983. My parents are immigrants from Mexico. My dad came over in 1976 to be a resident in El Paso, Texas. My mom came over in 1980 after marrying my dad. They are originally from Chihuahua, Mexico. Approximately half of my family still resides in Mexico. However, I have a half-sister that lives in Wales with her family and another half-sister who lives in Mexico City with her family. My brother currently resides in the suburbs of Washington, D.C.

I attended public Schools in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School in 2001. I have a BA in Political Science with a minor in Latin American Studies from Baylor University. At the moment, I am pursuing an MA in International Relations, also from Baylor. My expected graduation date is May 2008. My specialty area is Latin America with a focus on Inter-American Relations through the OAS and on Mexico.

[edit] Job Prospects

I am currently employed as a Martial Arts instructor at the Martial Arts and Athletic Center. However, I am looking for a more permanent career job as well. Preferably, this job would be in the international relations field for after graduation. Ideally, I would work for the US Foreign Service. However, any jobs that would assist me in getting my foot in the door would also be helpful.

[edit] Tae Kwon Do

Beginning when I was 7 years old, I began to take lessons in Tae Kwon Do and have continued to practice it to the present. I achieved my black belt in 1997, my second degree in 1998, and my third degree in 2002. Since going off to college, I have always taken the opportunity to go back and teach whenever I am in town. For a time, between undergraduate and graduate education, I taught Tae Kwon Do full-time. Following my return from Argentina, I have taken up teaching Tae Kwon Do again.

I joined the Knights of Columbus on Aug. 29, 2004. I earned my 2nd & 3rd degree on March 4th, 2006. I became a 4th degree on April 1st, 2006. I am currently a member of St. Peter's Knights of Columbus Co. #13577 and Waco Assembly #1109.
