The Mexican Howler Monkey (Alouatta palliata mexicana) is a subspecies of the Mantled Howler Monkey, A. palliata. It's range includes southeastern Mexico and in Guatemala.[1] The Mexican Howler Monkey is sympatric with the Guatemalan Black Howler, A. pigra, in Tabasco, Mexico.[2] The Mexican Howler Monkey differs from the Golden-mantled Howler Monkey, A. palliata palliata, primarily in aspects of skull morphology, and in some differences in pelage.[3] The Golden-mantled Howler's range includes parts of Guatamala and Honduras, and it is not clear if the Mexican and Golden-mantled Howler's ranges currently are in contact.[4]
