[edit] In memory

I spotted at the weekend a gateway at St Giles in the Fields which says something like "In memory of the Borough of Holborn: 1900 - 1965". Morwen - Talk 10:15, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Makes sense: that was the official borough church. According to The Times of November 3, 1900 the Bishop of London designated a number of "Municipal Churches" for the new boroughs (at least the ones north of the river) for public services "in case the mayor and corporation should at any time wish to take part in their official capacity".Lozleader 11:11, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
