Talk:Metopes of the Parthenon

[edit] Merge suggestion
I think this is a nice article (albeit in need of a tidy up), but really should be merged into the Elgin Marbles article, which would benefit from this level of description of the work.

- The Elgin marbles are not the same as the metopes. Please see my comment at Talk:Elgin Marbles. --Akhilleus (talk) 17:52, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Missing metopes
The metopes extended around the entire Parthenon, which means that this article is at best half-done. Actually, things are worse, because the article has put the metopes of the south side on the north side.
So, anyway, here are the subjects of the metopes of each side of the Parthenon.
- West: Amazonomachy. Athenians fight Amazons who are invading Athens
- North: Trojan War scenes
- East: Gigantomachy
- South: Battle of Lapiths and Centaurs

The south metopes are now correctly described in the article. --Akhilleus (talk) 00:49, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
