I noted that this page is a redirect from "Methyllithium" - the redirect should be in the opposite direction - the correct name is not "Methyl lithium" (two words) but "Methyllithium" (one word). See, for example, n-Butyllithium, tert-Butyllithium, Phenylmagnesium bromide, Methylmagnesium chloride, etc. ChemistHans 18:52, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Reactivity
I made some minor edits in the reactivity section, but there are still some problems. "Dangerous" is mentioned several times. I am not clear what this refers to - MeLi is considerably less reactive than commonly used reagents like n-BuLi. There is occasionally trouble with pressure build-up from methane buildup - perhaps this is what is meant. The statement "THF, usually a chemically inert solvent, is attacked by MeLi" is not correct - MeLi attacks THF only very slowly - experiments run for days at room temperature show little sign of THF decomposition. Of course, one would not store a THF solution of MeLi for months at room temperature, but otherwise there is no problem. Unless I hear some objections I will make some more changes.
