The original topic was defining 'metaphysical nihilism' in a way contrary to how most philosophers use it, so I have added a paragraph explaining the more common usage. I also removed some quote marks that were being used wrongly. Someone at some point should say something about the connections between nihilism in the more common sense and other metaphysical doctrines, and say something about the subtraction argument for nihilism. But not me now.

This is ridiculous. It's a horrid fusion of skepticism and mereological essentialism. Has anyone of any credibility actually ever posited such a philosophy as "metaphysical nihilism"? The idea isn't new, and it certainly isn't nihilism. I move that this article be speedily deleted unless reliable sources and references can be produced. Joe routt 04:55, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
