Considering the latest changes (thanks, 216.163.255.2!), perhaps it is time for the tone and wikify tags to be removed? sys < in 15:39, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
- I've done some more work on it - particularly moved the History section to the bottom, since it deals with technical detail that breaks up the flow of the article (IMO anyway). I think it's good enough, so I've boldly removed the tags. --Smalljim 12:40, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

- Well done. I'm curious about the emulator. During my stint at Met (1990-1992), I was under the impression that MEL programs were running under an emulator (this from the MEL programmers that I was often interfacing with, as we were porting data to a "new" platform). Could it be that some divisions used it more than others? sys < in 13:37, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
- PS. I have to say that even though I was 21 at the time, and therefore assigned to work on "leading-edge" technologies (80386, MS-DOS 4), I had tremendous respect of the MEL old-timers once I realized that they had accomplished on such limited resources. sys < in 13:37, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Sysin. Not sure if your question above is directed at me specifically, but if so I'm afraid I have to admit that I know nothing about MEL, other than what I've learned today. I just came across the article as a random selection from Category:Wikify from September 2006. The closest I got to anything like MEL was briefly tinkering about with Fortran in the mid-70s. Best wishes, Smalljim 15:08, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

- Thanks, actually my question was directed to 216.163.255.2, who added all that useful info on the page, including the clarifications about the emulator. sys < in 17:19, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
